Confirmation For Children and Adults

Children normally receive the Sacrament of Confirmation when they are in Grade 6. In the spring of the year, after the completion of a formal preparation process, they are confirmed by the Arch Bishop at the Notre Dame Basilica. Look for the announcement of the program in the Fall and register your child for the program. Otherwise check with the Parish Office for program and registration details.

For adults the Sacrament of Confirmation is part of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) process. The RCIA is a communal process and involves a number of stages punctuated by liturgical rites to aid and assist the potential convert toward the final rite, usually at the Easter Vigil, at which time they will become full members of the Roman Catholic Church. The entire process takes several month, but participants are generally invited to proceed at a pace which suits them individually.
